Conversely, you may want to lower the value of a player like Patriots running back Damien Harris, who should be New England's workhorse running back this season but doesn't catch many passes with teammate James White carrying most of that load. If you're in a standard league, you should still have your eye on the Alvin Kamaras of the world.
His receiving yards last season were good for But standard leagues place a greater value on scoring: Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry an NFL-high 17 rushing touchdowns in was the top non-QB in standard formats last season.
A disclaimer: This is all relative. If you're in a PPR league and Henry is still on the board in the second round, draft him immediately. But your league's scoring system should impact how you rank players entering your draft. So, Henry might be the No. Make sense? Each player you draft earns points for your team based on how they played in the actual game.
However, scoring in fantasy football is not uniform and depending on your league, different innings may have different values. For example, touch, score, interception, clearance and safety can all have different score values depending on the league. Since the tournament rules are what determines the scoring, everyone will draft and trade based on their own league rules. In a fantasy league, there are many different options for how players earn points, but one of the most important is PPR.
PPR stands for Point Per Reception, and means that every time a player receives catches the ball, they get a point. This change often results in PPR tournaments scoring much higher than a standard tournament and shifts the focus on players.
In a PPR tournament, players will often target players who receive a lot of treats. PPR makes wide receivers much more valuable because of this, while back runners who regularly receive the ball also get a boost.
One type of player that benefits the most from PPR is the wide receiver that may not get many yards or hit the ground, but get plenty of catches. Also, back runners who mainly catch the ball, known as ball receivers, have a higher value as well as receive the ball not getting as many yards or a chance to score a touchdown in the end area, but get many catch the ball. While PPR makes wide ball collectors more valuable, back runners are still the most important player on your imaginary team because the top back runners often receive the ball and run it, allowing them to get points when they receive the ball.
This is probably a better argument because as I mentioned, the non-elite quarterbacks tend to suffer in PPR as well as the non-pass catching running backs. The point to always remember is that PPR is a different fantasy game and not just a presumable fixer or upgrade for Standard play. Neither is Half-PPR really. PPR is wild and woolly.
High scoring. By adding receptions, you actually have an extra measurement of skill. One thing PPR does better than Standard is mitigate the damage and imbalance of touchdowns. It is true that touchdowns score as much in PPR, but at least some of the receiving workhorse players I talked about earlier get some compensation.
I like keeping the real-world refinements and ideas coming. Whatever league you are in, I would encourage you to be flexible and open to experimenting with new ideas for fantasy football. Commissioners of long ongoing leagues should, therefore, try to introduce new systems slowly, year by year. I hope you have a good summer and enjoy your Fantasy Football league whatever formats you find yourself playing. Visit the F6P Fantasy Football section for more off-season and dynasty content.

Duke Johnson has finally been granted his sweet trade release! The Texans sent the Browns a conditional fourth-round pick to acquire Johnson and his incredible pass-catching skills. Plus, with only bleh Lamar Miller ahead of him, Johnson has a sneaky shot to overtake this backfield. He becomes a major riser on my latest Big Board. Since taking over in , these are the Texans ranks in RB targets:.
He averaged 7 targets and 5. If Miller continues his usual inefficiency, Duke emerging as the lead in every-facet is a real possibility. Since entering the league, Landry has been a reception machine.
